Gotta Have a Plan

Ahoy matey’s from the s/v (sailing vessel) Cutthroat:We are still in San Diego but making final preparations for our first extended voyage.
Actually, we plan on leaving Thursday, Nov 2d headed for Puerto Vallarta and the Paradise Village Resort Marina. We plan to spend about 2 weeks getting there - basically hopping from town to remote anchorage (mostly anchorages) because there is a lack of towns on the Pacific side of the Baja Peninsula until you get to Cabo San Lucas). From there we will sail directly across the Sea of Cortez to Mazatlan and then down the coast to PV. We are looking forward to a relaxing downwind trip where we can fly our beloved and very cool genyker. This trip is close to 1200 miles - so a healthy little voyage but close to the coast for the most part. Our very dear friend, Carol Moneymaker is joining us. She and her husband, Pat also have an Island Packet 485 so she knows our boat well and is a very capable crew to assist in standing watch and sailing the boat. We appreciate her willingness to join us, but we are sorry Pat can’t make it (that darn work thing getting in the way). Thanks Pat for sharing Carol!!! You’re the best!Facts: 1. We are very well outfitted with all the essential and nice to have safety devices.2. The boat is in great working order.
3. We’re confident and competent…
4. We have enough food to last a long, long time…
5. ditto on wine and other adult beverages
We are excited about finally starting this adventure and we look forward to providing email updates on a fairly regular basis (like every couple of days). If you want to respond (and we hope you will) PLEASE DO NOT HIT THE REPLY KEY. Rather create a new message to our address wdb9753@sailmail.com or reply but delete the original message. Why - you might be asking…well these messages are sent via our Single Side Band Radio - basically a HAM radio that transmits in conjunction with my laptop computer but at very slow speeds. We can only use 10 minutes of transmit time each day and because it is so slow (about 4800 baud or something ridiculous like that)we need to minimize the volume of data. Never send photos or any attachments please. We appreciate in advance your consideration in this and we do look forward to keeping you dialed in to our journey.
